THE "PAY IT FORWARD" MODEL

STATISTIC:  In 2015 there were still 43.1 million people in the United States still below the poverty level which is defined as a family of four subsiding on less than $24,250.  This is simply not okay.

It shouldn't break your bank to do the things that empower a healthy lifestyle and create peace of mind. In fact, it's the thing that Rasamaya Method creator, Carrie Tyler, talks about the most. It guides her teacher training courses, workshops and retreats.  She and her graduates are deeply dedicated to creating positive change in the world.  Here are a few of the ways we try to make a difference in the world:

1. Community Service - All Teacher Trainees must complete 10hrs of community service hours to receive their certification. It doesn't matter what they do, as long as they are contributing to making the world a better place. It could be teaching a free class to a friend, working in a soup kitchen. You name it. Got an organization who needs some free classes or a helping hand? Talk to us.

2. Scholarships for Workshops, Retreats and Teacher Trainings - almost every Rasamaya event has a one-to-one scholarship model (one spot over our baseline costs = one scholarship position).  Our scholarship recipients have to answer this single question, "How will attending this program help me to pay it forward in the world?" Scholarship recipients  are expected to help us with marketing via social media and assist us during the event with errands, handouts, etc.  Interested?  Email us your answer in less than 600 words at training@rasamaya.com. We can't wait to help you give voice to your vision.

3.  Retreat partnerships - All of our retreats partner with a charitable organization. Our participants are involved through the form of monetary donations, food, clothing, or supply donations, or silent auctions.

4.  Tuition Assistance - Rasamaya was one of the first teacher training programs in the country to allow students to pay for teacher training costs over a flexible period of time.

CHARITIES & NONPROFITS WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH.

These are just a few of the charities that Carrie and her team have collaborated with over the years: Clothes for Hope, Jeanne Geiger Crisis Center, (H)EAT, Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Sexual Assault Support Services (SASS), Anna Jaques Hospital, American Red Cross,  New Hampshire SPCA, Star Island Corporation, Women's Coalition of St Croix and many more.

MEDICAL OUTREACH

We have a special love and ongoing relationship with Partners for Rural Health in the Dominican Republic (PRHDR) and Partners in Development (PID).

PARTNERS IN DEVELOPMENT - In Jan 2017 Carrie journeyed to Haiti for several weeks on a medical mission with Partners in Development.  Partners In Development (PID) strives to help impoverished communities attain independence and whole life improvement. We are currently focused on serving some of the poorest areas of HaitiGuatemala, and the Mississippi Delta. Through economic development, children’s programs, housing and medical assistance, they engage whole communities in whole-life change, ensuring a better quality of life and a more promising future. Learn more about them at PIDonline.org

PARTNERS FOR RURAL HEALTH IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC - Carrie spent January 2015 in the Dominican doing nursing outreach to 15 rural villages that otherwise have little access to  health care.  PRHDR welcomes all medical professionals, Spanish and Creole speakers, as well as the general public who would like to volunteer. Learn more about them at PRHDR.org
